i’m sick of people

Sunday, 27th January, 2002 :: 20:19 EST - Jots

I’m sick of people, in particular those who aren’t happy with the massive efforts I already put into Greymatter and the forums. I’m a millimeter away from not making my code changes for greymatter 1.22 available…. I need to see something that shows people deserve my efforts.

I really don’t know what I’m going to do at this point… It bothers me so very much that I can’t really quite distinguish my personal feelings of disgust against the annoying people versus the people who are happy and just don’t say anything.

otherwise… I have to say that people in general just flat out suck.

imagine that

I bitch about something and then I’m able to get it to work… I’m still working on this weblogs ping thing, but I actually got it working this past post… so I’m going to try the two url’s version to see if that actually works too…

I really want that sort of functionality to be part of GM… but done RIGHT… ;)

hmm, well, update, I couldn’t get the two url version to work via the ping… but it does work on the test log… (the regular one URL ping)… so I’m not exactly sure what might be up… I think there’s still a lot of work to do though so that it’s easily ignored for someone who doesn’t care about it. I assume that could be done in the same sort of way the karma and comments are done, by dynamically filling in the checked portion.

I’m still unsure on what happens with entry editing though… because there was a ping from here that just didn’t belong! lol…

more gm development

some people really fucking piss me off… when they slag you off, when you’ve done so much work, to the point that I doubt anyone else would be capable of… There was an incident this evening when I went to the GM forum that sort of made me want to go “fuck them all” and just stop releasing anything I ever do to the general public. I’m still considering it at this point.

I’m currently trying to add some new stuff, working with Fosh… and it’s just getting to be frustrated because the documentation to do certain things is practically non-existant…. grr…

And then we find out there are people who’ve done things and never told us… things that would have been very helpful in doing what we were doing… it’s all so incredibly frustrating… …makes me want to fork development… and just make “Greymatter Developer Edition” or something… people are so lacking in any sort of appreciation, it makes me sick. They come to the forum that I slaved over… and then bitch about it… then go the fuck away, understand? Nobody forced you to come here; you’re an idiot who can’t figure out something as simple as installing a perl script and then you insult the guy who setup the forum to help you…. that’s really smart there boy.

greymatter

Friday, 25th January, 2002 :: 23:40 EST - Code, thepast

I’ve been pretty busy lately, doing a lot of work on the greymatter program, making it better, fixing some bugs and adding some addition flexibility. I need a perl book desperately.

Davey got his mavica, which has been rather fun. ;) I love him taking photos, particularly when they’re of him and he sends them to me ;)

I’m completely exhausted… blah blah…

SUCCESS!!!!

I finally was able to get my 2.4.17 kernel compiled!! …and WORKING!!!

It appears that the readme in the kernel package is EXTREMELY incomplete! The linux kernel how-to on linuxdoc.org/.com whatever is also incomplete! There are sooooo many more steps that need to be taken!!

But anyway… after wading through error after error I finally was able to get it figured out! :)

I’m happy now… I have two problems though… a) sound card doesn’t work (can’t probe module) which is weird, since I thought I specifically enabled kernel support for it instead of a module, and… something weird about NTFS support… so there were three errors, two for hde (my big storage drive), which could be NTFS, but actually, more likely, it’d be that I forgot to add support for the promise ata 100 card… hmm… possible… and then the souncard error. I’ll fix these eventually.
