well… formatted drive, no luck… nothing I do seems to want to get windows installed… now it yelps at me saying I have an inaccessible boot device… fucking windows sucks… guh…

So… I dunno… I’m going to live in linux from now on I guess… and Eventually, once I get my powerbook, or something, I’ll format the NTFS partitions over to linux reiserFS… and setup file sharing, etc… blah blah blah… and all that other stuff.

I like linux… really… it’s just that there are so many things that I don’t know how to do in linux… like good editors to do various html/css stuff… and trading adobe photoshop for the GIMP isn’t really something I want to do… but at least all the adobe products work on MAC, lol…

well… I’ve been trying to avoid the formatting drive c: option… so I’ve been trying and trying to still reinstall windows… without luck of course. …So I decide to mount the windows drive in linux… to move data over… well… the windows installer deleted it all anyway… all of my photos of davey are gone… thankfully they’re on view.lostorbit.co.uk… well… not all of them unfortunately… and of course they’re basically irreplacable… ugh, this sucks so damned much… it also appears that 100% of my data for email is gone too… if it weren’t for linux this computer would be completely useless! …Pretty much everything in the “my programs” directory is gone too… which includes my trillian buddy lists… hell the trillian program is completely gone too of course. This is the second time that windows 2000 has wiped out my data… I’m really not quite sure if I should even bother with trying to reinstall it at this point…. I’m sooo fucking sick of windows destroying everything. Irony though, all of the development that I did with greymatter is also destroyed with the exception of the directory itself. And….. the local versions of all of my websites… well they’re gone… A lot of this I have backed up… but I wasn’t prepared for this sort of devastation…

I’m just not sure exactly what I’m going to do with my Palm Pilot now… there is supposed linux application support… but… realistically… I don’t know… I’ll have to purchase a USB adapter for use on any apple product I might buy though.

All of this is so incredibly frustrating… but at least I know that formatting my C: drive won’t destroy anything since the installer took care of selectively deleting anything of any level of importance… I don’t know what I’m going to do… windows or not… I need to move around the files on the non-destroyed E: drive though… if I intend to be linux only on this computer…. Will need to move everything to ReiserFS… …I also need a nice big surge of money… or something… sigh…

it’s a shame I finished my orange juice… I certainly could use a drink… and tequila and orange juice just go together so very well.

Maybe I should take a poll… to reinstall windows or not to reinstall windows… lol. …I think the ibook versus powerbook debate is solved… it has to be a powerbook now.

okay, this is growing very very old. I bluescreened in windows this evening, this happens every now and then, no biggie. Upon restart IE was acting dumb… so I went to do a repair, which normally will fix everything…. not this time! I bluescreened during the repair process, very bad… So now I cannot access add/remove programs at all to attempt another repair… I boot into safemode… I attempt to finish the repair, blue screen again and now I’m bluescreening constantly, cannot load windows at all. So I think, okay, fine, playing nasty. I boot from the windows cdrom… try to do a repair, no go, doesn’t help. So… I figure okay, fine… I’ll just reinstall, of course this means reinstalling everything, including fonts and other ridiculous things… not pleasant at all…. about two weeks of work to get everything back together like it was… or at least 2 complete and entire days of working all day long. Well, guess what? …that doesn’t work either. It can’t find various files on the cdrom, even though the cdrom is in perfect shape, really! …and… guess what? Once it gets to the end of the installation process ugly screen part it bluescreens… so I keep doing it… finally get through without a bluescreen, utterly amazing really… then I reboot to finish the install where it gets to ask you what you want and all that other bullshit… …shock… another bluescreen. I’ve never had this much difficulty with windows ever… I think my only option at this point is doing a complete format of my C: drive… not pleasant at all of course… I’m about to yank the drive out and throw it…. I’m seriously annoyed with this right now…. the other part of me wants to wait until a computer store opens, one that sells apple products, and just go buy a fucking iMac! So… I’m in linux… trying to decide what I’m going to do… since this obviously isn’t going too damned well. To add insult to my injury with windows is that upon going into linux it locked up… so I had basically nothing to use. I cannot believe that stupid internet explorer can destroy the whole fucking operating system… You can’t remove it of course… You can’t install IE over it, even the same version… and of course if it screws up you can’t do a repair either if it’s screwed up that badly. I’m pissed… I hate windows now…

I need a new webcam… it seems that there aren’t any good ones anywhere anymore… only logitech, not implying they aren’t good, but… ugh… I also don’t see the point in buying a logitech that only has support for mac OS 9.x versus OS X… …There have to be Mac people out there that want webcams… …so if you do… what on earth do you get? …Is it too much to ask that I can find a decent quality webcam that supports windows 2000 and also Apple OS X? …of course linux support would be good too, but that’s not as important. I just really would like to get a new one, since this current logitech has turned to absolute crap since september of 1999 when I got it, lol… though I guess it has done well given that it’s been around so long, in quite a few states too actually.

I’ve also started to categorize various posts, like this one, it’s in random… just because it’s totally useless when it comes to actual journal stuff…. and that post earlier in the week about aim, well that’s in “web” which pretty much accounts to total junk when it comes to the journal, lol… good idea eh? …and other random website crap gets stuck on the updates page.

I wonder sometimes… what’s happened to various people… random people that you’d don’t particularly know… this one website… I run across it every now and then… and this time it hasn’t been updated since the beginning of december… so I wonder what might have happened to him… I guess that’s normal.

I added a few months to my bio page… up to November 2000 now… lol,geez… it’s going slow. I don’t like reliving so much of my life so quickly… it’s not an easy thing.

I uhm… out of boredom, started to play Civ3 again… picking up where I left off… whole world is a nuclear disaster, heh, thanks to me of course, bastards attacking the guy with nuclear missiles, they should know better!
