Soaping Tornado!

Okay, so I’ve been making soap like a madman… it’s fun. I’ve been on a quest to create the perfect facial soap, so each day I make a new one. The first of the series is known as “Facial Soap IV” or “Tangerine” because it’s scented with that EO. I also made soap with a most delightful scent known as “Dreama” Both of these soaps can be seen here, Tangerine on the left, Lard on the right. Yes, folks, I used good ol’ oink oink to make the Dreama soap… it’s quite interesting actually.

I made another facial soap tonight, using Ricebran oil and leaving it unscented except for chamomile tea as my ‘water’ portion. It’s probably going to be a little soft because the INS# was only about 124. It’s supposed to be a “luxory” bar of soap… I’m pretty excited about it.

In keeping with the soaping tornado I also made soap with the same delicious Vanilla scent as I make the lotions with. All was going well until I added the scent, then the raw soap started looking a little “gritty” …after asking on the soapmaking forum one of the members said that it sounded like “ricing” –which is the result of the fragrance being a little incompatible with the soap. The soap will be fine, but it might not look as delightful and creamy as normal. I’m not too concerned now… it might even make it look more interesting.

My next batch of soap, which I think I’ll make tonight too (oi), is going to be “Oatmeal, Milk, & Honey — using all of those ingredients, plus a nice fragrance oil of the same name. These bars are going to be round like the facial bars, but 3″ in diameter versus the 2″ of the facial bars.

I was going to make one pound ‘test’ batches, but decided to just make fullsize batches… which might have been a bad idea for the Vanilla, hopefully the OMH will turn out okay.

Tomorrow will be one more facial soap and then I think I’ll be done for a little while… I’ll have far too much soap to deal with, lol.
