It only took… eight hours!

After the retouch, I present my newly dyed blue hair!. Forgive the look of absolute exhaustion, that’s kind of been my…. uhh… month.

Patrick wanted to do something with his hair, had bought a bleach kit, and, well, I felt a little inspired, so we decided to share it. My utter impatience reared its hilarious head and I ran out to get some blue hair dye, not sure why blue, but it’s been about eight years since I had blue hair and why not, right? If you’re interested it’s “Huckleberry Blue” by “Beyond the Zone” …supposedly it’s a lot better than most of the garbage out there in terms of colorfastness.

I left here in time to get up to Patrick’s around a quarter ’til midnight. He still needed to get some dye so we went on a mission to not one, but two walmarts… of course neither of them had the red he wanted. I didn’t realize that it would be quite the task it turned out to be otherwise I would have brought some with me, since my walmart does indeed have it. The benefit is that I’m breaking him of his walmart snobbery and hopefully he’ll soon be enjoying the evil corporate based discount shopping that Jon, some random other people, and myself tend to enjoy in the middle of the night quite often.

Finally we found something adequate at Giant and onward to the homestead we were.

As you may have guessed we were exactly built for speed when it comes to this process, lol. He cut his hair, we bleached, we dyed, he cut mine… it was daylight. ;) His turned out quite amazing; a blonde base with these incredibly intense red tips intermixed with black tips. Mine turned out fairly well with this interesting mix of medium and lighter blues. The sides, which always tend to be problematic, didn’t take the dye all that well prompting my retouch. I haven’t put the dye to the white pillow case test, mostly because I’m not insane, but it seems to be holding alright. I’m fairly happy with it, I think I might get a bottle of a darker blue and do some sort of tipping. I think part of it is that I feel a little silly with blue hair, heh… I’d really grown out of that sort of phase, but I just wanted to revisit it anyway.

I was a bit worried about the weather going straight to arctic conditions and it figures that even though I really should have left after we were done and of course I really did not want to leave… there was about 3ish inches of snow covering the car when we woke and the snow hadn’t stopped. The trip home was pretty good though, the roads for the most part were alright, the time of day was very helpful because the roads were warmed up by morning rush hour before the major snow started.

It was fun though, hehe… and of course it’s only hair. :)
