The Evil Pink Room…
…and other stories of the weekend.
Thursday and Friday were rather… boring… to say the very least. I did start talking to this pleasant guy in chat (Luke) which did help ease a bit of the boredom. I was fairly tempted to go up there and see him mostly because a) I wanted someone to have a drink with and b) he had ciggies and I didn’t. Of course I’d be passing many places to purchase cigs on the way, so it was a bit pointless. It was still a pleasant thought, lol. Anyway, I talked with him way into the pre-morning hours, always had something to say, which was quite a change from lately.
I slept very late saturday, poked around a bit online, then Patrick called inviting me out to Philly with Tim & David. I realized during the process of getting ready that I have very few articles of clothing to actually wear out to a club, heh, I’m so gap/banana republic ad boy that it hurts sometimes. I eventually find myself up there in Harrisburg, after a torturing experience at the empty ATM. I needed to go to the dreaded mall to use my bank’s atm there, which thankfully was on the way, but of course a lengthy detour in terms of time anyway. Andrew was there when I arrived which was a bit of a surprise, but he wasn’t accompanying us to Philly.
Part two was driving down to near Lancaster where I get onto the turnpike when going to IKEA with Jon, abandoning the car to then continue on with part three in Tim’s car. Of course there’s no smoking in Tim’s car so it was a bit like a chainsmoking event just prior to departing.
The whole idea was to go to this club named Pure. David was meeting some guy at Woody’s so we stopped there and had a drink. My vodka tonic wasn’t exactly stirred up, much to my surprise, and I forgot to stir it myself, lol, so it was an interesting experience that became dissapointing once I got past the vodka. Onto Pure then, which was a bit… vacant. We did get comped in, thankfully, so it wasn’t so terrible even though some were still bitching anyway. The piano bar, aka “evil pink room” was, well, horrible to the point of being evil. Another drink there and back to Woody’s, at least until afterhours at Pure started. I was having a good time, even if the music wasn’t exactly up to par for everyone. I’m the type that wants a LOT of people at a club, and it certainly was packed, so fine with me. :)
Pure was very nice… when we got there it was absolutely full of people and the music was still good (phew!) so there wasn’t anything to complain about. There was this boy standing over by the bar that looked just so adorable, heh, apparently, even though I hadn’t realized it at the time, Patrick noticed that I was trying to get him over to me… subtle of course. Getting him over to me was pretty much the extent of my conquest by design, so I think that the boy was a bit dissapointed that I wasn’t groping all over him. Mind you, I certainly would have, but it didn’t seem exactly appropriate, lol, I could be grinding up against Patrick instead. :-) We decided to leave at exactly the right moment… as soon as we walked through the doorway to the main room the music stopped and you could just tell there’d be a stampede, lol.
Not so quick stop at the pizza place around the corner for much needed food, because you know pizza is a must at nearly 4am and travelling again.
It was kind of nice to be driving (or for me in particular being a passenger) while the sun starts to come up. I’ve not done that in rather a long time and reminded me of my foggy early morning drives back from DC, rather nice really. In the car with Patrick I saw us heading toward this diner, my little mind was going ‘please stop!’ …and we did, hehe, because I was still starving, and apparently he was also. Breakfast in the morning, it almost seems strange, doesn’t it?
My room here is totally dark during the daytime, with the exception of artificial light, so I’m not used to falling asleep with the room so lit up. Patrick’s apartment is full of light, which I so very much like, except that particular morning, lol. So after a while of attempting sleep I finally gave in and just got out of bed, I was still feeling rather wide awake anyway.
I spent the majority of the morning complaining to Luke about how I couldn’t find the Kosheen CD, of course as soon as I give up I see it right in front of me, ha! I eventually felt a little tiredness creeping in and decided to crawl back into bed after exchanging vital contact information, heh. Of course I discovered I was in a technological catastrophe of sorts… I turn on my palm pilot to find its battery totally drained, left my cellphone in the bedroom, and even though I had a pen I couldn’t find any paper! Without much surprise no sleeping occured anywhere on the bed after I crawled back in, haha.
I’m not sure when we officially ‘woke up’ but I’m thinking somewhere in the 4/5pm range. We had some grilled cheese, though the first batch were a bit on the burnt side, lol. That happened the first time we made bagels in his new toaster too, heh. New philosophy, burn the food first as a test run, whee!
A lot of the rest of the evening I’m sort of blurry on, though we did swap some music between his workstation and my ibook. I also eventually made plans to spend a bit of the evening with Luke; cookies, coffee, and ciggies, whee!
Now, while originally these plans were totally kosher with Patrick a bit of a (now realized) mistaken identity issue arose creating quite a bit of awkwardness and concern. Stay tuned for the story of how Betty Crocker let us down. ;)
