Gay Boys Visiting In Volvos.

Perhaps this should be “Planning and arranging around four families for the holidays” …but it isn’t.

Patrick asked me last week what I did for Easter and my response was canned, “nothing in particular, just another Sunday” …and in a way, that is the case, but I guess I forgot about the whole dinner thing. So the plans ahd sort of become me going with Patrick to visit his family in Baltimore… then had sort of become coming here for dinner Sunday… then I realized if I was going to be here for the dinner I’d be involved in creating the dinner. So then came the whole planning around my brother’s wife’s family and also my other brother’s fiance’s family… which seemed to be a non-issue as everyone said they’d be having their ’stuff’ either in the morning or afternoon, the easy choice would be to have dinner around six. That’d also give Patrick and me plenty of time to travel from Baltimore considering they were also having theirs in the morning.

Wrong. Patrick’s family rearranged things to be in the evening and either David & Louise were clueless when they said morning or it changed, because David said rather matter of factly Friday while the woman and I were planning out dinner that they’d be having dinner at six…. err, no.

I figured we’d still make an appearance at Patrick’s parents, but that didn’t quite happen, so after spending the afternoon doing a little baking, hehe… we took our leave of Harrisburg and ventured down to my house. I don’t think I’ve ever gone to my house with someone else and then left with them, so it was kind of like a flash forward to the future… the gay boys visiting the family in the volvo.

We were a little late, arriving at six-thirty, but all was well… we fell into the kitchen and worked together like we were wheels and cogs… clockwork. Soon dinner was ready and a mini-feast it was, heh. I finished up making the coca-cola ham that my mother had started, mmm that is so good! I also made apple glazed carrots the day before… finally carrots that don’t taste like carrots!

Dessert was multi-course, lol.. We had caramlized pineapple, strawberries, and mangos to dip into a chocolate rum sauce… along with white chocolate mousse with passionfruit and vanilla shortbread cookies. There were also plenty of watermelon, strawberry, and mango daquiries along with pina coladas galore. The first thing I started doing once I arrived was start preparing the watermelon daquiries, lol… can’t have a trashy dinner without drinking while doing it! :D

David and Louise made a showing toward when we were finishing up eating dinner and stayed for about ten minutes. True, at least they showed up, but I found it rather insulting that they left so soon without eating anything. The next holiday dinner I’m feeling like giving them a “screw you” versus trying to arrange things around them.

With exception of the brother/fiance drama, lol, dinner, dessert dinner, and the drinks… it was a nice evening. Patrick and I headed back to Harrisburg feeling overly full and quite ready to pass out for the evening… and for me, the next morning also. ;)
