An End to Nagging.

It’s been two weeks now since I’ve seen David, as he’s in New York being Mr. Student these days. I haven’t fully adjusted back into fully independent mode, in that all the time I’d usually be spending with him has been transformed into tv watching laziness instead of the usual projects galore routine.

Part of this laziness has to do with how I’ve funneled my project money into attempting to save money for a great big new toy. It’ll take a bit more saving (a lot, that is) before I can come close to getting it, but the benefit is that these things just keep getting cheaper — as opposed to just about everything else these days.

I was really wanting to get a DLP tv, in keeping with being on the edge of technology, haha. Unfortunately it turns out that looking at a DLP tv for more than a few seconds prompts a rather instant and severe headache. It seems a lot of people out in the television world seem to think this is a myth, but it isn’t for me at least. It’s an eye-strain headache, the sort you might get when you put on someone else’s glasses and try to focus on something anyway; very unpleasant, DLP is then totally out of the question. LCD (direct view) and Plasma are still way too expensive in comparision, direct view CRT even in the biggest available (which is tiny compared to a projection tv) is simply too heavy, we’re talking nearly 200 pounds for some of them. I want a big widescreen tv, the Sony LCD rear projection one seems to be the right choice. The 50″ one is just too big, almost unfortunately, but it has a bit too much ’screen door effect’ when viewed from the distance I’ll be viewing it from.

I spent this past weekend babysitting my niece, she seems to have gone directly from being one year old into the terrible two range. While adorable, one cannot miss the totally spoiled brat hissyfits she throws when she doesn’t get exactly what she wants, regardless of what that happens to be.

Originally, while in full gardening mode, I’d been planning to spend a small fortune to get a truly insane quantity of spring bulbs. This desire sputtered out a bit and I found myself just picking up a couple of bags of them at Walmart the other night. I’m still feeling the desire to get a few more, but who knows when that’ll actually happen, if at all. I did manage to get myself a “purple tulip blend” which is comprised of 50 various types of white and purple tulips (surprise!) along with a big assortment of daffodils and hyacinths. I think I want to get another bag of tulips, some of the more ordinary types… along with maybe some allium, crocus, and maybe some grape hyacinths (muscari).

I desperately need to find that lacking motivation and get outside to do some garden cleanup. The whole thing is looking pretty sad with the ton of weeds and plants (mostly the dahlias, which totally sucked this year) sort of flopped over. I figure once I get all that taken care of it might be time to plant the spring bulbs.

I also need to get hopping on refinishing my desk, I suppose the weather is about right, and will continue to be about right for about the next month. I’m still a tiny bit afraid to actually do the refinish of it, but… I really want to do it all the same.

Oh, and it turns out the tractor trouble was actually just the battery, and not something more dire. It just strikes me as so very odd that it would work perfectly fine and then be totally dead and not even chargable. Oh well, twenty dollars fixed that little problem. With great irony though, while backing the tractor out of the shed I ran over a nail, in just the right way of course, as to puncture one of the front tires. I mowed anyway, but I suppose a tire patch kit is on the shopping list now.

I need to go do domestic things.
