A Birthday…

Monday, 25th November, 2002 :: 02:45 EST - Site

Today is indiboi.com’s 2nd birthday! Well, technically not the domain, because that didn’t come until the 11th of Decembre, 2000, but I started this journal with the post here two years ago today.

This post has a lot of painful irony… actually, so does the other post from today last year.

Moody Bitch

Monday, 4th November, 2002 :: 07:33 EST - Site

Huzzah! I have implemented the mood function I wrote yesterday!

It’s pretty easy to install since I wrote an installer script that steps you through all the changes needed to make it work, if you run a recent version of b2/cafelog you’re welcome to download the archive file for b2moods-0.1. :)

There is a lot of potential with this… of course there’s the idea of adding smiley faces, I’m not too fond of those, but they seem to be something most people want. Once I learn how to query both $tableposts & $tablemoods at once then I’ll be able to do cool stuff like graph a mood history and show the most common moods, etc. It’ll be cool.

Oh, I also switched the weekdays and months over to French, but that was yesterday morning… and changed the generated links to use http://imeridian.co.uk instead of http://indiboi.com

It is finished

The redesign is finished, I think so at least. I finally checked the layout in winie six, needed to do a couple of tweaks. I also added back in the guestbook and about page and all that other fun stuff. It looks pretty good in Mac IE, looks great in Mozilla, and alright in Opera, Konqueror, and winie six. Windows people using IE don’t get to see my nifty huge first letter thing because winie six can’t do it right for some reason.

The Brainfeed

Monday, 7th October, 2002 :: 16:45 EDT - Site

At the bottom of the index you’ll see a litle box with 5 entry lines, that’s my brain feed, where I use the command line tool to post very random thoughts. For those that care, “blog2″ is a php scrip that is executed locally, so that means you have to have php installed on your computer and have it compiled as a cgi binary… but you simply type something like “./blog2 p ‘this is my entry’” and it posts via xmlrpc… pretty nifty. My brain feed is basically the most useless form of blogging ever created… it doesn’t even have little quizes, haha!

i hate win ie

Saturday, 5th October, 2002 :: 10:14 EDT - Site, Tech

Why is it that M$ can get Mac IE mostly right… that MozDev can get Mozilla perfect, practically… but M$ cannot get the damned css box model at all correct? Of course… with IE six for windows they “Fix” the bug that we exploit to prevent ie from parsing the “correct” css, because all the other browsers don’t have the bug… so… we have to do css2 selectors for *Everything* now because mac ie and mozilla, etc, understand those and winie six doesn’t. It’s the biggest pain in the ass ever…. Thanks to winie six my css is a dirty mess! At least I finally got it looking mostly the same in all those three browsers, finally… of course, I don’t know how win ie 5.x looks at all… it’s probably very much screwed up. Anyway, sorry win ie six people… you’ve been viewing this site very much in a way it wasn’t meant to be… apparently the remote windows session wasn’t using win ie six… but some other version, so I had thought I worked around all of the horrible bugs… apparently not though of course. I also don’t know how it looks in version of mac ie older than os x 5.2.2. If anyone with browsers other than mozilla, win ie six, or mac ie 5.2.2 would like to take screenshots I’d appreciate them… there is a comparision of how I see the different browsers here. (The windows screenshots aren’t from my computer, since I don’t run windows of course).

In other news… I only keep one day of entries on the index (usually), please be sure to also check the previous five days link at the bottom.
